The same U.S. flag that hung over the rubble at ground zero in New York after Sept. 11, 2001, flew over the South Sound this week, this time for local police officers and soldiers who have died in the line of duty.
In its first visit to the state, the U.S. Honor Flag was raised in front of the County-City Building in Tacoma on Tuesday.
The ceremony lasted about 15 minutes.

Maurice Clemmons, the 37-year-old Tacoma man being sought for questioning in the killing this morning of four Lakewood police officers, has a long criminal record punctuated by violence, erratic behavior and concerns about his mental health.
Nine years ago, then-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee granted clemency to Clemmons, commuting his lengthy prison sentence over the protests of prosecutors.

90% of us are good, 10% are criminals. Seems that on any given day a team of 90 could kick the ass of a team of 10, all things being equal. That the case, then the 90% deserve all the crime we let 10% give us. 90% of society has become wussified. Politcians and police always put the crim problem back on the 90% that's good society, but tie our hands. Let's untie our hands. Insist to be deputized by local police department, then travel in groups to chase criminals out of town by ticketing them and their enablers endlessly.
The fines will help lower your taxes. And use them to remove condemmed properties, to pick up trash, and landscape.
If we have too many for the jails, demand Obama to cut a deal with Iraq to pay off their dept to the US by housing prisoners there that have a sentence greater than 5 years without parole. Iraq prison must meet Geneva standards, and must be inspected quarterly by a NATO representitive. Allow 1 family member to visit per quarter, with US gov't paying coach airfare for just 1 family member a year to visit. All other traveling and visiting expenses for the family. Whatever it currently costs Iraq to house a prisoner within Geneva standards is what we pay them to house our prisoners.
